Description
A simple baked dessert featuring tender pears and tart cranberries topped with a crunchy oat mixture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for fruit)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (for topping)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced pears, cranberries, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Spread this fruit mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, rolled oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit layer.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit filling is bubbly.
- Let the crisp cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute apples for some of the pears if you prefer a mix of fruit.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added richness.
- If using frozen cranberries, do not thaw them before mixing with the fruit.
