- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the beef broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- Pour the beef mixture into a 9-inch pie dish.
- Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top of the beef mixture. Dot the top with butter.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until the topping is lightly browned and the filling is hot.
Notes
- You can add 1/2 cup of frozen peas and carrots to the beef mixture for extra vegetables.
- For a richer topping, mix 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese into the mashed potatoes before spreading.
