Description

A simple baked casserole using croissants, eggs, and cheese for a satisfying breakfast.


Ingredients

  • 8 large croissants, torn into pieces
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange the torn croissant pieces evenly in the bottom of the prepared dish.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the croissants.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, dry mustard powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissants and cheese.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  8. Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the casserole is set and lightly golden brown.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use half-and-half instead of milk.
  • You can add cooked, crumbled sausage or bacon before baking.
