Description
Simple turkey meatballs coated in a sweet and savory brown sugar glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Roll the mixture into small, uniform meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the meatballs for 15 minutes.
- While the meatballs bake, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, whisk together the brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Heat the glaze mixture over medium heat, stirring until the brown sugar dissolves and the sauce simmers lightly. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Remove the meatballs from the oven. Pour the glaze over the meatballs, tossing gently to coat them evenly.
- Return the glazed meatballs to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the glaze is bubbly and slightly thickened.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- You can use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs for a slightly different texture.
- For a quicker cooking time, you can pan-fry the meatballs before glazing them.
