- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 cups water or milk
- 1 medium apple, diced
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Combine oats, water or milk, and salt in a saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce heat to low, add the diced apple and cinnamon.
- Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is absorbed and the oats are cooked.
- Remove from heat. Stir in brown sugar if using.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a creamier texture, use milk instead of water.
- Add a splash of vanilla extract at the end for extra flavor.
- Use quick oats for a faster cooking time, reducing simmer time to 1-2 minutes.
