Description
A simple recipe for seasoned rice similar to the side dish served at Texas Roadhouse.
Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the onion, celery, and green pepper. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the uncooked rice and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Pour in the chicken broth. Add the salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.
- Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
Notes
- Use low-sodium chicken broth if you need to control salt intake.
- You can substitute vegetable broth for chicken broth for a vegetarian option.
