Description

A simple skillet meal featuring sliced sausage, bell peppers, and onions cooked together.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage links
  • 2 large bell peppers (any color), sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1/4 cup water or broth

Instructions

  1. Slice the sausage links into 1/2-inch thick pieces.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the sausage to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the sausage and set aside.
  4. Add the sliced peppers and onion to the same skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in the oregano, salt, and pepper.
  6. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. If the mixture seems dry, add 1/4 cup of water or broth.
  7. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, stirring to combine all ingredients.
  8. Serve immediately.

  • You can use sweet or hot Italian sausage based on your preference.
  • Serve this dish on its own, over rice, or inside hoagie rolls.
