Description
A recipe for Brussels sprouts prepared in the style of Red Lobster, often featuring a bacon and sweet glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Cook the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.
- Add the olive oil to the skillet with the bacon grease. Increase heat to medium-high.
- Add the halved Brussels sprouts to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8 to 10 minutes until they are tender-crisp and slightly browned.
- Reduce the heat to low. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the sprouts. Stir quickly to coat.
- Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the sprouts and cook for 1 minute until the liquid thickens slightly into a glaze.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the cooked bacon, salt, and pepper.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispness, you can roast the sprouts at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes before tossing them in the glaze mixture.
- Use real maple syrup instead of brown sugar for a different sweet note.
