  • 1 can (12 ounces) orange soda, undiluted
  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 container (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the dry cake mix and the dry pudding mix.
  3. Pour the orange soda into the dry ingredients. Mix on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cold water and the remaining contents of the pudding mix package until smooth. Let this mixture sit for 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
  8. Gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the thickened pudding mixture.
  9. Spread the topping evenly over the cooled cake.
