Description
A classic layered dessert salad with a salty pretzel crust, cream cheese filling, and strawberry jello topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounces whipped topping
- 3 ounces strawberry gelatin
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup cold water
- 10 ounces frozen strawberries, thawed and slightly mashed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake the crust for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden. Let it cool completely.
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in the whipped topping. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
- In a separate bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Stir in the cold water. Add the mashed strawberries and mix well.
- Chill the gelatin mixture until it begins to thicken but is not fully set.
- Pour the thickened gelatin mixture over the cream cheese layer.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
Notes
- Ensure the pretzel crust is completely cool before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting.
- For easier slicing, run a knife around the edges of the salad before cutting into squares.
