Description

A classic layered dessert salad with a salty pretzel crust, cream cheese filling, and strawberry jello topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces whipped topping
  • 3 ounces strawberry gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 10 ounces frozen strawberries, thawed and slightly mashed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Bake the crust for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden. Let it cool completely.
  4. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in the whipped topping. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  5. In a separate bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Stir in the cold water. Add the mashed strawberries and mix well.
  6. Chill the gelatin mixture until it begins to thicken but is not fully set.
  7. Pour the thickened gelatin mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

Notes

  • Ensure the pretzel crust is completely cool before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting.
  • For easier slicing, run a knife around the edges of the salad before cutting into squares.
