A flavorful pesto pasta dish ready in minutes.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pasta
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions.
  2. While pasta cooks, combine basil, Parmesan, pine nuts, garlic, and olive oil in a food processor.
  3. Process until smooth.
  4. Drain pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  5. Return pasta to the pot. Add pesto and toss to coat.
  6. Add reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.
  7. Season with salt and pepper.

Notes

  • For a nut-free version, substitute sunflower seeds for pine nuts.
  • Add cooked chicken or shrimp for a complete meal.
