- 1 loaf Italian bread
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces sliced Italian deli meats (such as salami, capicola, mortadella)
- 4 ounces sliced provolone cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced roasted red peppers
- 1/4 cup sliced Kalamata olives
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the Italian bread in half horizontally.
- In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, basil, and black pepper.
- Brush the cut sides of the bread with the olive oil mixture.
- Layer the deli meats, provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, and Kalamata olives on the bottom half of the bread.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
- Place the top half of the bread over the fillings.
- Wrap the sandwich tightly in aluminum foil.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is warmed through.
- Remove from oven, unwrap, slice, and serve.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a layer of your favorite Italian dressing to the bread before adding the fillings.
- If you don’t have roasted red peppers, you can use fresh bell peppers, thinly sliced.
- Feel free to customize your sandwich with other favorite Italian ingredients like sun-dried tomatoes or artichoke hearts.
