Description
A simple recipe for sweet and spicy hot honey, perfect for drizzling on various dishes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup honey
- 1–2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Combine honey, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan.
- Heat gently over low heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not boil.
- Remove from heat and let it steep for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. For a spicier honey, let it steep longer.
- Strain the honey through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the pepper flakes, or leave them in for a more rustic look and extra heat.
- Pour into a clean jar and store at room temperature.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your desired spice level.
- For a smoother consistency, you can warm the honey slightly before straining.
- Hot honey can be used on pizza, fried chicken, cornbread, or as a glaze for meats.
