Description

A recipe for perfectly crispy homemade French fries.


Ingredients

  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into 1/4-inch thick fries.
  2. Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat them completely dry with paper towels.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 325°F (160°C).
  4. Fry the potatoes in batches for 5-7 minutes, until they are tender but not browned. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  5. Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry the potatoes again in batches for 2-3 minutes, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. Season immediately with salt.

Notes

  • Ensure potatoes are completely dry before frying to prevent splattering.
  • Do not overcrowd the pot when frying.
