Description
A simple recipe for chocolate covered strawberries perfect for Father’s Day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh strawberries
- 12 ounces good quality chocolate (dark, milk, or white)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for shine)
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry your strawberries. Ensure they are completely dry, as water will cause the chocolate to seize.
- Remove the green tops from the strawberries.
- Melt the chocolate. You can do this in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, or use a double boiler. If using, stir in the coconut oil or shortening until smooth.
- Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate, coating about two-thirds of the way up. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
- Place the dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- If desired, you can drizzle contrasting chocolate over the strawberries for decoration.
- Allow the chocolate to set completely. You can speed this up by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh, firm strawberries.
- Experiment with different types of chocolate for varied flavors.
- Store the finished strawberries in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
