- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, toss the apple slices with the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Place the apples evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and brown sugar. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or heavy cream for a richer taste.
- You can substitute pears for apples if desired.
