- 1 package (13.2 ounces) refrigerated cinnamon roll dough
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon blue food coloring
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cinnamon roll package. Grease a baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt.
- Stir in the melted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Whisk the egg and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients until just combined. This is your cookie dough.
- Unroll the refrigerated cinnamon rolls and place them in the prepared baking pan.
- Spoon small dollops of the cookie dough evenly over the top of the unbaked rolls.
- Bake according to the package directions, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
- While the rolls bake, prepare the frosting. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Add the blue food coloring, one drop at a time, until you reach a bright blue color.
- Once the rolls are slightly cooled, drizzle the blue frosting over them.
- Sprinkle the mini chocolate chips over the wet frosting.
Notes
- If you prefer a thicker frosting, add a little more powdered sugar.
- You can use store-bought blue vanilla frosting instead of making your own.
