- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Add chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and water. Stir to combine.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Serve hot over pasta or rice.
Notes
- You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat.
- Stir in fresh chopped parsley before serving for color.
