A sandwich featuring breaded chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese.

- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter or oil for frying
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 slices cooked ham
- 4 sandwich rolls or slices of bread
- Mayonnaise or mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Pound the chicken breasts to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Mix flour, salt, and pepper on a plate.
- Place the egg in a shallow dish.
- Mix breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese on another plate.
- Dredge each chicken cutlet in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the breaded chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Place one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese on top of each hot chicken cutlet in the pan. Cover briefly until the cheese melts.
- Assemble the sandwiches with the chicken, cheese, and ham on the rolls or bread. Add mayonnaise or mustard if desired.
Notes
- You can bake the chicken instead of frying for a lower fat option.
- Use thin-sliced deli ham for best results.
- Pounding the chicken ensures even cooking.
