Description

A simple one-pan meal combining ground beef, cheese, and rice for a quick dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the cream of mushroom soup and water to the skillet. Mix well.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Stir in the uncooked rice.
  6. Cover the skillet and reduce heat to low. Cook for 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute cream of celery soup for cream of mushroom soup if desired.
  • Use your favorite type of melting cheese instead of cheddar.
