Ingredients

- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (16 ounce) package frosting
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup maraschino cherries, halved (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch pan.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cool, frost the cake. If desired, sprinkle with nuts and top with maraschino cherry halves.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can substitute milk for the water.
- Add food coloring to the frosting to match Leo’s colors, like gold or orange.
- Decorate with edible glitter for extra sparkle.
