Description

A simple recipe for a single-serving chocolate brownie cooked quickly in a microwave.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe mug (about 10-12 oz), whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  2. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix well until just combined; do not overmix.
  3. Stir in the chocolate chips, if using.
  4. Microwave on high for 60 to 90 seconds. Cooking time varies by microwave wattage. Check at 60 seconds. The top should look mostly set.
  5. Let it cool for one minute before eating directly from the mug.

Notes

  • If the brownie seems too wet after 90 seconds, microwave in 10-second intervals until done.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute vegetable oil with melted butter.
  • Serve with a scoop of ice cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
