Description
A basic recipe for making sweet and slightly tart blueberry compote.
Ingredients

- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Combine blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and water in a small saucepan.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the berries have softened and the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Remove from heat and let it cool. The compote will thicken more as it cools.
Notes
- For a thicker compote, cook for a few extra minutes.
- You can substitute maple syrup for sugar if desired.
- This compote keeps well in the refrigerator for up to one week.
