Description

A quick recipe for making refreshing frozen wine drinks with mixed berries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine, chilled
  • 2 cups frozen mixed berries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to make a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. In a blender, combine the chilled wine, frozen berries, cooled simple syrup, and lemon juice.
  3. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and has a slushy consistency. Add a few ice cubes if needed for thickness, but avoid making it too watery.
  4. Pour the slushy mixture into glasses immediately.
  5. Serve right away.

Notes

  • For a sweeter drink, increase the sugar slightly.
  • Use a wine you enjoy drinking on its own, as the flavor concentrates when frozen.
  • If the mixture is too thick, add a splash more wine or water.
