Description

A recipe for crispy fried shrimp coated in a sweet and spicy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a second shallow dish, whisk together the milk and egg.
  4. Dip each shrimp first into the flour mixture, shaking off excess, then into the egg mixture, and finally back into the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat.
  5. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  6. Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a wire rack.
  7. While the shrimp cooks, prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey.
  8. Place the cooked shrimp in a large bowl. Pour the sauce over the shrimp and toss gently until fully coated.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can double-dip the shrimp in the flour mixture.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to control the heat level of the sauce.
