Description

A recipe for cooking small whole chickens, Cornish hens, in an air fryer for crispy skin and moist meat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Cornish hens
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Pat the Cornish hens dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and thyme.
  3. Rub the oil mixture evenly over the skin of both hens.
  4. Place one Cornish hen in the air fryer basket, ensuring it does not touch the sides.
  5. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes.
  6. Flip the hen carefully.
  7. Air fry for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
  8. Remove the hen and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Repeat the process with the second hen.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, stuff the cavity with a lemon half and a few sprigs of rosemary before seasoning.
  • Check the temperature with a meat thermometer to confirm doneness.
